VAO [ VILLAGE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER ]

                 My dear VAO aspirants first get to know about what is vao and what's their Work Job.Read Below to know about the work you will have to do after placed in VAO post.


  1. VAO exam is conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission(TNPSC ). It is a state  government job.
  2. Nearly every year 5 to 7 lakhs people appearing for this VAO exam. Compare to TNPSC group 4 exam , VAO exam is little bit tougher.But it is too easy when compare with ssc,upsc and other central govt exams.
  3. Village Administrative Officer is the basic village level functioner. He is assisted by one village Assistant.

His roles and responsibilities are :
Revenue Records : Preparation and maintenance of records related to village revenue and land records

Tax collection : Land revenue, tree tax and others
Recovery of dues to the government

Reporting Functions : Reporting higher authorities about important happenings in the village such as unnatural death, caste feud, objectionable encroachments etc.

Certificate Issue to farmers.

Enquiry and Petitions : To furnish inspection and enquiry reports on petitions 

During Natural Calamities : Immediate reporting to higher authorities about natural calamities and assisting in relief operations and rehabilitation measures.


Data Collection : Gathering Field Level data about Below Poverty Line ( BPL), Civil supply and Consumer Affairs

Abolishing Bonded Labour : Being vigil over incident like bonded labour

Election Duties : Arrangement of polling booths during elections
Issue of Solvency Certificate for bail purposes.

Eligibility for TNPSC VAO Exam 2017:


Age:-

SCs,  SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, BCMs and DWs of all castes

Minimum Age (Should have completed):-  21 Years
Maximum Age:- 40 Years

“Others”   [i.e. Candidates not belonging to SCs,  SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs and BCMs]

Minimum Age (Should have completed):- 21 Years
Maximum Age:- 30 Years

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:


Must possess Minimum General Educational Qualification viz. Must have passed S.S.L.C  Public Examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies (or) to College Courses of studies.

KNOWLEDGE OF TAMIL:- Candidates should possess adequate knowledge of Tamil.

Paper Pattern

TNPSC VAO Exam 2017 Pattern:-


TNPSC VAO exam will consist of a single paper with the following subjects of SSC standard

General studies - (75 items)
+
Basics of Village  Administration (25 items)
+
Aptitude & Mental Ability Test (20 items)
+
General Tamil / General English (80 items)

Total - (200 items)

Duration of Examination:- 3 Hours

Maximum Marks:- 300

Minimum Qualifying Marks for selection:- 90
